Mica Erin
Mica Erin conducting the orchestra at Air Studios Lyndhurst in London
Mica Erin is a Los Angeles based violinist, singer and songwriter. A classically trained violinist, she is comfortable playing a wide array of genres such as bluegrass, rock, pop, jazz, and gypsy jazz. Her areas of expertise include violin, vocal, ukulele, mandolin, and viola performance. She hopes to further connect to her audiences with her story based songwriting and film scoring.
Background:
It was a busking fiddler performing at the cliffs of Moher, that inspired a six year old Mica and set the trajectory for her musical journey. Her classical training began with the Suzuki Violin method under her teacher Lois Starer.
With the introduction of an after school program called String Project, Los Angeles, founded by Robert Anderson and Jacob Szekely, Mica began expanding her musical horizons by playing popular music, and studying improvisation.
Later she studied with world renowned violinist Phillip Levy, and USC Thornton Professor Robert Anderson. When performing with the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, she performed at Carnegie Hall and went on tour in Vienna and Prague.
As part of her Culminating Experience project at Berklee College of Music, Mica received the incredible opportunity to record her original score for the animated short film, Light Years, at AIR Studios Lyndhurst in London.
Education:
Mica completed her bachelor's degree in Popular Music Performance at the USC Thornton School of Music in 2019. She has cultivated an interest in arranging, composition, and screen scoring and is pursuing these disciplines further. Recently, she graduated with her Master of Music in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games at Berklee College of Music's campus in Valencia, Spain.
Other Interests:
aka DJ Meeks, Mica hosts her own weekly radio show, Indie-Cision which features local talent, live performances and exciting new music.
